Unfortunately i likely wont get a chance, as this house will be reduced to rubble, and this public installation will be a piece of art history soon enough.
Public installation artist, designer, and urban planner, and 2011 TED Senior Fellow, Candy Chang is doing some really interesting things, and recently i stumbled across her ‘Before I Die‘ project in New Orleans, online that is. As her bio reads, Ms. Chang makes thoughtful public spaces and communication tools for everyday issues of city life. She’s passionate about redefining the ways we use public space to share information important to our neighborhoods and to our individual well-being.

I find this both a clever and thoughtful way to connect a community. Considering how the past openness of the typical neighbourhood has been reduced to networks of acquaintances, the use of a derelict building as a sounding board for simple yet profound dialog makes you kind of wish this was just around the corner from your home.
