Mini Cooper Coupe Adds Layer of Performance
CNN Money recently listed the new Mini Cooper Coupe as an early contender for Car of the Year with not-so-great odds of 50 to 1. While the compressed profile and performance-based flourishes take the new Cooper Coupe in a slightly different design direction, as CNN Money notes, the novelty of a premium minicar may be starting to wear thin.

Classic Monza Spider On The Block
A classic and historic 1955 Ferrari 750 Monza Spider is on the block. This one is the eight of a little more than 35,000 produced, and was featured in the 1959 post-apocalyptic film, On The Beach starring Gregory Peck and Fred Astaire.

Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi Build Their Own Rome
Danger Mouse (aka Brian Burton) of The Grey Album, Dark Night of the Soul, Broken Bells, and Gnarles Barkley teams up with Italian composer Daniele Luppi to produce Rome, an incredible ode to their shared love of 60s Italian film soundtracks of the spaghetti western age. Five years in the making, the album was recorded on vintage equipment in a studio converted church that once played host to Ennio Morricone, Piero Umiliani and Bruno Nicolai. And to round out the sound, Burton and Luppi recruited Jack White (of the White Stripes) and Norah Jones on vocals. It’s an incredible sounding album, with a release date sometime in May of 2011, but you can give it a test drive here.

Before I Die I Want to Sign This Wall
Unfortunately i likely wont get a chance, as this house will be reduced to rubble, and this public installation will be a piece of art history soon enough.
Public installation artist, designer, and urban planner, and 2011 TED Senior Fellow, Candy Chang is doing some really interesting things, and recently i stumbled across her ‘Before I Die‘ project in New Orleans, online that is. As her bio reads, Ms. Chang makes thoughtful public spaces and communication tools for everyday issues of city life. She’s passionate about redefining the ways we use public space to share information important to our neighborhoods and to our individual well-being.

I find this both a clever and thoughtful way to connect a community. Considering how the past openness of the typical neighbourhood has been reduced to networks of acquaintances, the use of a derelict building as a sounding board for simple yet profound dialog makes you kind of wish this was just around the corner from your home.
